Dana Jolly, principal of Jolly Consulting, LLC, recently attended the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel's (NPUAP) biennial conference in Houston, Texas. This year's conference focused on Deep Tissue Injury (DTI). DTI is a pressure related injury, a category of pressure ulcer. DTI is a relatively new category of pressure ulcer. In talking with clinician experts at the conference, it is clear there is confusion about etiology and diagnosis of these wounds. More research is needed on the topic to help clinicians understand the pathogenesis and presentation of this pressure related wound.
